But as He which hath called you is Holy, so be ye Holy in all manner of conversation, Because it is written, Be ye Holy; for I am Holy.
1 Peter 1:15-16*
Who shall not reverence and glorify Your name, O Lord [giving You honor and praise in worship]? For You only are Holy. All the nations shall come and pay homage and adoration to You, for Your just judgments (Your righteous sentences and deeds) have been made known and displayed.
Rev. 15:4*
It may seem we have a strange dichotomy in Scripture, but remember there are none. So then something else is being said by God here about Holiness than “try hard” and it is critical you understand what that message is. Indeed, if you don’t understand this then you are not in Christ, that is how important understanding what God is talking about is, when speaking of Holiness.
Now, it is always wise to ask questions when you are trying to understand what God is saying concerning a matter you are not quite getting. So let’s ask the obvious ones first:
Is there some reason why God tells us to be Holy, and then clearly states that He alone is Holy? Is there something coded here? Or is God merely stating what Believers already know? Is there a reason you do not, yet, understand?
So to begin, let’s answer the first question.
Is God asking us to be Holy?
Well, clearly, that answer is a resounding yes. All through His Scripture he tells us to be holy, be Righteous, be as perfect, as He is.
What is the reason God is telling us to be Holy?
Again, in His Scripture He answers this question:
Paul states clearly in Hebrews 12:14 (and yes I am sure it’s Paul) that you cannot see God without holiness… no, I mean Holiness.
Next question:
Is there something in code in what seems to be God asking opposing questions?
This question gets answered by you, so read on but I will ask a question from you to get you going to the answer:
How were you saved? Who saved you? Did you accomplish your salvation?
This is the crux of the matter, and use the word “crux” purposefully.
When you get to the answer you will discover something remarkable, you will “see” answers from Scripture ,meaning, you had not ever known before.
So, who is Holy?
If you read this article to get the right answer then I have not given it to you. No, no, this is ONE answer every Believer gets themselves from God.So if you don’t understand this is your encouragement from me to seek the answer. Love Righteousness more than Life and you will be answered.
But I will give you a clue:
You will know the truth when you are known by the Truth.
