Last year I had the opportunity to reply to Christian Atkinson, a gentleman who posted about a quote from Abraham Lincoln:
Christian said, “A lot of good has come from America, but all nationalities will inevitably decline as it’s [what] people do because no system is above doing the right thing. Abraham Lincoln was fine, as a federalist, he understood we would be weak without staying unified, but he also caused us to change from a democracy to a republic, which like Rome, will fall more quickly. The quote’s accuracy comes from all of our lies, lawsuits, unjust wars, backwards politics and immoral goals.”.
Actually, Christian, only Jesus saves.
The USA was always a Republic but we have not been free for a very long time. We had a taste of freedom UNTIL President Abraham Lincoln forced state and citizen’s unity, in violation of the Constitution of the United States of America. Abe Lincoln forced the reunification of the citizens of legally seceded States, citizens of a 4 year old, and legally established, nation, to rejoin the USA, killing or imprisoning, stealing the land, property and inheritance, of anyone who refused.
What “union”, what “republic”, what “freedom” do we really have in any nation?
Don’t get me wrong, the USA is the most free nation that has ever existed, but it will not hold a candle to what Jesus does when He returns. The only real (national) freedom anyone has now is to be such a small fish that the sharks don’t bother with you. But (even) this is changing; There is very little space for personal freedom any more.
I don’t expect you to know this, Christian, considering the lies told you in USA Schools, like about what actually happened in what is erroneously called the “Civil War”. There was no “Civil War”, but rather a War of Aggression by Lincoln and the USA. They attacked a sovereign neighbour that had LEGALLY SECEDED from the USA and established their OWN government, elected their own President, who held office for FOUR YEARS, had their own standing Army, had issued their own currency and formed their own laws and courts. The “civil war” was not started about slavery, but about money and power; the usual suspects in most. The “Civil War” was about the northern States stealing the tax money of the Southern states, leaving the South destitute (people were literally starving to death in the South). The Southern States thought they had no choice but to legally secede from the union and form their own government. Lincoln only used the abolition of slavery half way through the war to ensure the continued cooperation of the existing United States that were having real consternation about his Dominionist plans. I am glad slavery was finally abolished, but the Civil War was not about slavery. Lincoln used Christianity (and slavery) to get what he wanted. God did use the situation to change a grave injustice but even to this day race is still used for political gain, just like “honest” Abe did (look at our present President).
It’s really too bad so few read the Bible. Because, if they did, those who use race would know God is “no respecter of persons”, that God has only TWO people on the earth: The Lost and the Rescued, the sheep and the goats, not all these made up “races” of man’s imagination.
Which people do you belong to?
The Southern States could sue for reparations, even today Christian, seceding again, this time ready, willing, and able, to fully defend themselves. But one thing you should know is that deceit and lies occurred on both sides. Peace could have been, SHOULD have been, made, with wiser heads prevailing. But, instead, greedy men rushed to war against their own brothers, even in their own households. This was not a wise solution, this was not what men of God would do, or SHOULD have done.

If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men.
But all that was a long time ago and many other grave sins have been committed since, by all involved, and by their ancestors. I am not sure anything beneficial would be accomplished bringing up such old sins; We all know old wounds cannot heal if you keep picking at them. The only way to really be free, in any nation, is to HOLD FAST to Jesus as YOUR LORD GOD and your One and ONLY Savior for what you so justly deserve from God Himself. Only then can you truly defend the weak, and can do so in whatever nation you live in, Seeking the Lost wherever you are, and being God’s representatives to all.
The only freedom that exists is found in Jesus.
The Confederacy was no better than the Union; Our present nation no better able to make men free than any of man’s other failed governmental systems. Why? Because men still run it. Man will never, cannot ever, succeed at peace, because his heart is desperately wicked.
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it? I, Yahweh, search the mind, I try the heart, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings” -Jeremiah 17:9-10
None of this exonerates Christians from trying to bring God’s Justice to any people, but never can we ever hope in any system of redemption and justice more than we do in Christ Jesus as LORD and KING.
Christians can neither refuse to participate in their system of government or try to force man to accept Jesus as their Lord.
Only God will be able to Justly establish real freedom. Until Jesus returns we do our best, standing before God for how we do.
