Bring Yah Glory

Here is the thing: If you profess to be a Christian you cannot think more highly of yourself than you ought (Romans 12:3). In some of the comments (to the above article) I have seen the point some bring about “discrimination”. I understand we should not turn away, say, a black couple, because we don’t like black people. Since when, however, is sexual deviance a civil right? And if sexual deviance is made a protected civil group does what they are doing exempt you because the Government says so? I’m not so sure…
Think of it this way: in NAZI Germany it was not only LEGAL but required BY LAW to deny food and shelter to sexual deviates, “Homosexuals.” They were rounded up and murdered along with the Jew, the Gypsy, the Christian and a myriad of others Hitler hated. So was that “okay” because the Government at that time said so? So who says it’s “okay” now for Government to tell us who we CANNOT discriminate against?

We could get into the whole long explanation of Moral and Civil Law, the differences between them, and how EVERY Law is exactly that:: Government enforcing morality, which then is to produce civility, peace. We would then have to address the responsibility of government to Him Who gave them their authority, etc…

It is merely cultural upbringing that makes one sin more prevalent with you than the other.

But, clearly, the problem here is not one of Civil Law Enforcement, for the shop owner in this moral quandary, but that of the personal conviction of the owner to the God that made him.

So, all this being said, should you, Christian, not RATHER make the cakes and then witness to the sinners the WHOLE TIME, with love and compassion, knowing that, but for God’s Grace, you would BE THEM? Why? Because ALL MEN are subject to the same sins as any other (1Corinthians 10:13). It is merely cultural upbringing that makes one sin more prevalent with you than the other. but SIN IS SIN. If you grew up in San Francisco under your adoptive male parents I dare say your SIN prevalence would be VERY likely sexual deviance of the “Homosexual” sort, but you would still be just as much a sinner as I was, growing up under the influences of the Playboy attitude toward women, the James Bond disregard for God’s moral commands. But YHWH saved me and He can “them” too. You know the “those”, “them” and the “they” rejected by the pridefully arrogant of professed American Christianity that refuses to tell “those, “them” and “they” how to be saved?
I have thought, and still do think, it’s morally reprehensible for Government to FORCE someone to provide a service to those they consider in direct offense to God. But I have since been shown that those who refuse to serve sexually immoral people will also need to reject Jews who reject Jesus as Messiah, Jehovah’s Witness, Mormon, and Catholic cult members, 7th Day Adventists, and on, and on the list goes. If you are honest, dear Brother, you who have this moral dilemma and profess Jesus as LORD, you would have to deny services to YOUR OWN FAMILY, If you have any who are not Christians.

See the problem here, Christian?

If you decide to only serve Christians then you may as well close shop, there are so FEW who are God’s People (Matthew 7:14).

No, instead of rejecting sinners we should be welcoming them in, with one hand open and a tract in the other.

Am I perfect in this? Heavens no. But I am grateful to Jesus that He showed me my error so He could then change my heart. I hope He has used me to do the same for you as well.

Romans 12 (W.E.B.)
Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service. Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. For I say, through the grace that was given me, to every man who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think reasonably, as God has apportioned to each person a measure of faith. For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members don’t have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us, if prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of our faith; or service, let us give ourselves to service; or he who teaches, to his teaching; or he who exhorts, to his exhorting: he who gives, let him do it with liberality; he who rules, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is good. In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate to one another; in honor preferring one another; not lagging in diligence; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope; enduring in troubles; continuing steadfastly in prayer; contributing to the needs of the saints; given to hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless, and don’t curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Don’t set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Don’t be wise in your own conceits. Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, “Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.” Therefore
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him.
If he is thirsty, give him a drink;
For in doing so, you will heap coals of fire on his head.”

  1. At first I was thinking, “Okay, where is he going with this?” But as I continued to read your viewpoint it is in clear alignment with mine. When I first read the story about the baker, I did get upset. Here we go again! The Government is FORCING Christians to accept issues and lifestyles that many of us are against. But the Holy Spirit came with correction and I began to think about if I were in that baker’s shoes. The bake shop is a business that was registered to serve THE PUBLIC, therefore, he must serve anyone who comes in. In all the years of his business, the baker could have served molesters, pedophiles, fornicators, different races, different physical appearances (lost limbs, deformed features) or even the homeless. In that situation, the best thing to do was serve those two men with love and compassion (as you stated) and took the opportunity to witness if God set up the atmosphere for such. The baker should have been humming christians hymns or songs as he took their order or quietly prayed for them in the Spirit while he gathered up wedding samples to show them. He didn’t have to say congratulations or ask for specific details in order to falsely express that he was happy for their decisions, he just needed to SERVE. Isn’t that what Christ did? He served while staying true to God’s standards and expectations.

    It is SO important that in these times (last days) Christians give the enemy NO ammunition to shoot us. We must work even harder to be blameless and to shut the mouth of the enemy. We’re too emotional (flesh-driven) and not operating enough in the Spirit (the Holy Spirit which gives us what to say, how to say it and can set the atmosphere for soul-winning and victory). If the baker was Holy Spirit-lead, even if the two men had a clue that the baker didn’t accept their lifestyle, they could have still called him homophobic or even found another cake shop to use. Those are factors you can’t control. BUT they could never say that the baker was rude, discriminatory or provided them with the best service. And, Christ still wins in the end because the seed of love (which destroy every yoke) was sown in those men and God could then do the rest for deliverance and restoration.
