Are Christians Socialists?
Yes and no; Let me explain…
The ideal of socialism is that all work toward the common good. A major flaw with Socialism is that you eventually have too many gaming the system, doing the least they can for what they can get.
While I wholeheartedly agree we care, as Believers in Christ Jesus as LORD and Savior, remember…
While it sounds virtuous, a collectivist ideology leads to disaster; Extended social support leads to dependency, wherein the individual will rely on the welfare of others instead of than working for the common good. The system that actually works, for now, is a meritocracy, or “You get what you earn.”
Yes, I did say, “for now”. You will see why in a minute.
I DO agree in taking care of those in need, but mandating that is not actually caring. We are to put others above ourselves and that is the best policy: To live by ‘The Golden Rule’, to treat others the way we would want to be treated. But, the focus of any system has to be for that of individualism, of what YOU do, not what you can force others into.

Socialism cannot work unless the people are Christians
That is why this system worked with the early Christian Church, as documented in the Book of Acts.
Why? The key is the heart of man.
Change the heart to be naturally good and then ANY system will function.
Think about it. ANY system will work if people actually cared for each other more than they cared for themselves.
So then, Socialism, the system of governance itself is not the issue, is it?
And how is it that the heart of man is not ‘naturally’ good? Well, God tells us the answer in His Scripture. The heart of man was naturally, or made to be ‘good’ originally, by God Himself. But then we sinned against God and all that changed.
Christians can work any system of government.
Where Love is Law is not needed.
