Revelation 3:3 KJV
Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
As we draw closer and closer to the imminent Promise of God we all have to face trials and struggles. This life holds all manner of traps and places to stumble, never-mind the deliberate attacks (and our own baggage from before we trusted in Jesus). The seven deadly sins, as many claim, are merely the struggles of the flesh, the pride of life, and the evils of this world everyone, including (especially?) Christians have to deal with. The difference is that The Lost all face the battle unarmed, completely at the mercy of the power struggles outside them and their own Sin within. While Believers, Children of God, are fully equipped to defeat every conflict, some abdicate before they even attempt to fight.
In his webpage, Save Yourself Some Pain, Ray Comfort, the Founder and CEO of LivingWaters.com, encourages new and existing Believers to rest in God’s Care, to, “Be assured, God will never leave you nor forsake you. He has brought you this far and He will complete the wonderful work He has begun in you. ” His word for every Christians begins with the “blessed assurance” of God’s Promises to hold you in His care, and keep you in His Salvation. And in this keeping Ray reminds us we need to know what we believe to know God will take care of us, with 4 simple steps:
- Are you aware that God became flesh in the person of Jesus Christ (1 Timothy 3:16), and that He died for the sins of the world?
- Did you come to the Savior because you knew that you had sinned against God?
- Are you convinced that Jesus suffered and died on the cross for your sins, and that He rose again on the third day?
- Did you truly repent and put your faith in Jesus?
He goes on, saying, “Salvation is a free gift; it cannot be earned by good works or religious rituals. If you repent and place your faith in Jesus Christ alone—the only grounds for forgiveness—God will grant you mercy. If you’re not sure of your salvation, read Psalm 51 and make it your own prayer. Then show your gratitude by obeying God’s command to be baptized.”
This teaching from Mr. Comfort is, literally, to comfort you in your salvation by allaying all your fears on whether you are, indeed, “Saved.”
Now why would he do this? Because, in the 45 years I have been a Christian I have learned that this fear is not just the greatest discussed among Believers, but especially so with those who argue with Christianity.
Once this fear is settled in the Christian, he can truly live the life he so desperately wants to live.
Here are some basic principles Ray Comfort, among many others, has learned will serve you well:
“Following are several important principles that can save you a great deal of pain.
1. Feeding on the Word— Daily Nutrition
2. Prayer—“Wait for a Minute.”
3. Fellowship—Flutter by Butterfly
4. Thanksgiving—Do the Right Thing
5. Evangelism—Our Most Sobering Task
Christian, you have a sobering responsibility to share your faith with everyone around you. Why would you let anything, or anyone, keep you from that task (especially yourself)?
In the process of writing this article, at the play area I was at my son with, I overheard three people speaking rather loudly; Lacey, Bubba and another young lady. In the process of their discussion they were talking about how they think God saved them when they each had been in deadly situations (car accidents, etc…). I took the springboard of the discussion and gave them the Gospel with, “Do you believe in coincidence?” I used the Law (the Ten Commandments) to explain what Sin was, using the WOTM training I was taught by Ray’s Ministry to use, in the School of Biblical Evangelism, and clearly shared God’s Love for them: They all agreed with God’s Judgment. Bubba stuck around and responded very well, I gave him a tract. Lacey just seemed too embarrassed, but still agreed, so I gave her a tract. But the third young lady walked away, using an excuse to escape. So I left her pondering what she last heard and ran from (that God’s Judgment made her guilty).
You will get one, or all three, of these reactions every time you share your faith in Jesus to save you from your Sins. Sometimes, very rarely, you may even get murderous rage. That only happened to me once in over 10,000 personal encounters where I’ve shared The Truth.
Some will run, like mice do when you turn on the light.
Some will be embarrassed by the Truth.
Some will listen intently to the Message of God’s Love.
Some will want to kill you.
But why would you be afraid of any of these; YOU are safe, right? Read “Save Yourself Some Pain” to live a life free of care as you seek to make God proud of you.
Until The Return,
