Hezekiah’s Prayer: America’s Deliverance Today? – CWN
In the Old Testament what Hezekiah did, as recorded by Isaiah, is a clear example of what repentance and faith in God is.
Hermeneutic principles state we cannot expect anything that was done by God for a specific people or nation at a specific time for a specific reason to be what He will always do. We cannot make a doctrine out of what was done, in other words. BUT, we can see the principle of what was done and how we apply it today.I believe we as God’s people have a responsibility to lead America to repentance. And in so doing we must tell America what Yahweh expects of this country. ALL IDOLATRY puts you at risk. No statue of Mary, Muhammad, or Buddha can save you: Only Jesus Saves.In Isaiah the Prophet Hezekiah demonstrated that unless you trust in Yahweh you cannot expect to be rescued by Him. And this is what we must tell this country to do, every person, together. America must be told that worship of anyone but the Biblical God is IDOLATRY and makes us vulnerable.
In Isaiah Hezekiah cried out to God asking for His deliverance of them from their enemies saying, in that very prayer, what they had done as a precursor was evidence of their humility and submission to Yahweh’s sovereignty…
Isaiah 37:14-20
Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers and read it. Then he went up to Yahweh’s house, and spread it before Yahweh. And Hezekiah prayed to Yahweh, saying, “Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, who is enthroned among the cherubim, you are God, even you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. Turn your ear, Yahweh, and hear. Open your eyes, Yahweh, and behold. Hear all of the words of Sennacherib, who has sent to defy the living God. Truly, Yahweh, the kings of Assyria have destroyed all the countries and their land, and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone; therefore they have destroyed them. Now therefore, Yahweh our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you are Yahweh, even you only.”Hezekiah declared who God is and that there was no other, then he clearly acknowledged before Yahweh that the nations that worshipped idols perished for trusting in what was a lie. These enemies casting all their idols in the fire had shown where His judgment had come from. Then Hezekiah beseeched Yahweh for His rescue of them from their enemies beginning with the phrase “Now therefore”. The beginning of his request for help is a declaration that because they were not in idolatry that God could then deliver them. The implication is there, idolaters get destroyed. Why? Because their gods are not real. You trust in what is not real then there is no one there to keep you when enemies come.
Hezekiah knew what Yahweh had said about idolatry, that those who practice such place themselves in His anger and he knew what was needed to expect Yahweh’s deliverance from His wrath in the form of their enemies. Hezekiah made sure there was no idolatry as he clearly stated who he knew God to be and that he knew those who had been attacked by the Assyrians were destroyed because they put their trust in those things that were not gods at all.
You have to come right out and state the truth to not have any misunderstanding.
All other religions are WRONG and IDOLATRY: Only Jesus Saves!
We recently have seen the patently offensive and blatantly depraved results of homosexual deviance run amok in America at a recent parade in California. The San Francisco police stood by and did nothing to enforce the decency laws on the books there, even at the behest of onlookers, while adult men walked completely naked down the street, held each other’s privates in public and had sex in the street, in front of everyone watching (and yes there were children there).
(Folsom Street Fair, 2007)What is going on? Why is this happening? How has America gotten so insane? From the curse of Yahweh on a people that call themselves by His name and yet live in defiance to His will. As long as Christians refuse to stand up and clearly stand against ALL idolatry we can expect no less. As long as Christians keep letting idolatry, the worship of false gods, go unanswered; as long as Christians play along with this heresy of calling idolatrous practices another way to God” then we cannot expect Yahweh to defend us. When we turn our backs on Him then we are responsible for the results.
Yahweh is not out God? Then our trust in idols will not keep us in the time of trouble.
In researching what scripture says about God’s name I came across these verses that show homosexuality is a curse from God for persistent idolatry:
Romans 1:22-28
“Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and traded the glory of the incorruptible God for the likeness of an image of corruptible man, and of birds, and four-footed animals, and creeping things. Therefore God also gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to uncleanness, that their bodies should be dishonored among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
For this reason, God gave them up to vile passions. For their women changed the natural function into that which is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural function of the woman, burned in their lust toward one another, men doing what is inappropriate with men, and receiving in themselves the due penalty of their error. Even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting;”Ezekiel 23:49
“They shall recompense your lewdness on you, and you shall bear the sins of your idols; and you shall know that I am the Lord Yahweh.”Leviticus 19:4
“Don’t turn to idols, nor make molten gods for yourselves. I am Yahweh your God. ”2 Kings 21:10-12
“Yahweh spoke by his servants the prophets, saying, “Because Manasseh king of Judah has done these abominations, and has done wickedly above all that the Amorites did, who were before him, and has made Judah also to sin with his idols; therefore thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, ‘Behold, I bring such evil on Jerusalem and Judah, that whoever hears of it, both his ears shall tingle.”There are so many places in the Bible that show God’s response to idolatry that it is no wonder John ended one of his letters with these words:
“Little children, keep yourselves from idols.” (1 John)
John knew that only in Jesus will anyone be safe.
History shows that every nation, every people, that descends to sexual depravity ends. And the Bible shows us it is Yahweh who handed Israel over to such debauchery for their rejection of Him.
America has Rejected Yahweh, has rejected Christianity, and has rejected Jesus, the very foundation of this nation. Professing Christianity has engaged in idolatry by daring to say Jesus is not the only Way for anyone’s sins to be forgiven. And God is angry (Yahweh is angry at sin every day). Do we expect God to bless us with His protection? He cannot if we trust in idols.
Repent America; repent Church. Burn your idols before we go the way of all who deny Yahweh, like the nations the Assyrians destroyed, the way of those who trust in false gods.
Jeremiah 17:5
“Thus says Yahweh: Cursed is the man who trusts in man, and makes flesh his arm, and whose heart departs from Yahweh.”Psalm 20, verse 7
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses,
but we trust the name of Yahweh our God.
And so, as Paul did 18 times in his writings, we must declare what idolatry is and defy those who practice such to their face. Then can we look to Our God, and there is no other, and know He will keep us. Then, and only then, can we expect such depravity as happened in San Francisco to be overcome with the truth and men be delivered from their sin.
